After you have clicked on the article link and before the text is fetched, you probably think -- "What Do I think about this one?" You must have an opinion even though the issue (of blogging) is still fresh.

I would say; you need only one of them, if not neither.

You need an email newsletter in the case where you think that relationship management is a must for you business. This story didn't change much. With a newsletter you are able to give prospects and clients valuable information that is not otherwise available. The newsletter should continue news, but also updates and other product information or discounts. Success stories may be included, etc, etc.

With a newsletter you show your public that you are still around. The frequency per issue may vary, but the credibility will increase when this frequency is constant. This requires hard work, and only liable companies are able to do this. This is why most people buy (on the inteet); ninety percent out of trust.

If sales is not your first business priority, than you do not need an email newsletter. There are so many other specialized direct marketing companies and focused companies that you should better link to. And you do not even have to write them a letter, you ought to convince them that your service or product is a win for both.

If sales is not your first priority than you can do without a weblog too. There is no need for a weblog, other than that it is just fancy. Choose for one, if you think it will help your business.

As you read this our govement is ramping up a campaign of oppression against the heartland of America. Operation Cyber Storm, aimed directly at the right of free speech is ready to be deployed against all of us.

Bloggers are thus acknowledged as Americans last hope for freedom.

Bloggers have for years now shown their collective muscle of the mind and heart, changing the direction of govement action in many instances, and exposing the corruption that is now endemic to every institution for which Americans pay so dearly.

Now the govement has decided they must be silenced. It is time to fight back. We can retu America to the goveance of the people. In that battle bloggers are our first line of resistance.

The existence of those cantankerous bloggers whose on line discourse, diatribes, and insights annoy so many have become the last, best line of defense for the much tattered First Amendment. The rapidity with which bloggers change opinion has made them a force with which to be reckoned. Therefore this govement under the speciously constructed argument of 'terrorist threat' is going after the Blogsphere.

It is time for those who truly care about America and our liberties as Americans to abandon the futile activities that replayed endlessly the activist organizing of the 60s. They no longer work.

Alito was confirmed. The Congress is stacked; the Supreme Court is frozen for the forces of big govement and tyranny. At this point we cannot count on electing replacements because the ballot process has been hijacked. It is time to climb out of the box and take the offensive.

Bloggers are under attack. They need to be protected. Therefore, the ACLU needs to organizing task forces and action network so that any blogger who is attacked for free speech issues will get all the support needed to spring him or her while using each case to awaken the public to what is happening.

Think of it as the medical support we owe our military when, to protect us, they put themselves in harms way.

We have been divided, right and left, Green and Libertarian. These chasms are in large part fiction, constructed to prevent effective communication and a unified front for protecting the rights of individuals against the predations of the unholy alliance between megacorporations and govement.

Decent people may have disagreements about how to get there but they all understand where we want to go. The rights of individuals as enunciated by Jefferson remain today the Mission Statement of America, more profound and compelling of our loyalty than any govement or political party. How ever we live, as long as we do no harm to others, is ours to decide.

Political parties are tools we created to help us achieve the goals left uncompleted at the time of America's founding. Political parties were immediately used to oppose the full participation of each individual in that vision. Blacks remained in slavery; women dispossessed of their rights to their own property and to their bodies. Slavery, as Americans are beginning to see, comes in many kinds.

Where political parties fail because they have proven to be incapable of advancing the work of human emancipation they must be discarded. One of their most profound failings is in the divides they made possible. The redefinition of meanings, linking loyalty to words like 'conservative' instead of to the profound principles underlying America's Mission Statement worked to convert our rights, inherent and preceding govement, to privileges, granted by govement.

The change in definition that has helped create these divides is beautifully enunciated by R. J. Eskow in his article that appeared today on Huffington.com.

The solution is a working coalition and the way to make that work is to start working together to protect our first line of defense, a common problem, the coming persecution of Bloggers.

Our uniting agenda must include protecting Bloggers as the last bastion of free speech and the Inteet as the village commons where opinions are aired, judged, and adopted through the process of persuasion and consent.

Left, Right, Libertarian, and Green; we have common cause and a common need. That need is urgent and compelling. We cannot yet guarantee an honest vote but we can support the warriors of the word who are out there in the trenches.

Blog Power: Celebrate the heroes among us.

Blogging has become the true voice of the people, the only one that the NeoCons have not yet managed to stifle. American Patriots will continue to speak out. In silence freedom would truly die.

Free SEO blog content is powerful and the source of lots of envy from other site owners struggling to win just a little traffic.

I vividly remember in the days before I discovered the power of free SEO blog content, I would visit blogs that had already clocked millions of hits. I would look around curiously and with lots of envy trying to find ways to get the magic to rub off on my then traffic-starved blogs and me.

Even today it is sometimes a little difficult to believe that just a few lousy words written in a certain order and repeated often enough throughout n article can result in daily six figure traffic hits. But then that's the power of free SEO blog content.

Free search engine optimized blog content starts with the address of your blog. Never underestimate the power of including important keywords in the address of your blog. It is a fact that when leading search engine robots spider your site, they quickly take note of the keywords in the title and the result is that your site is ranked highly in search engine results for that particular keyword phrase.

Free SEO blog content that you generate at your blog on a daily basis using different keyword phrases accumulates a huge number of different keyword phrases after a short period of time. The result is that even if each keyword phrase gives you a mere 12 hits on average daily, after 3 months of daily content creation using different keywords, your blog will be enjoying over a thousand hits daily.

After that things tend to accumulate rather quickly. Stuff like people linking to your blog and email opt-in lists growing fast. The result is that a few months later your traffic will have grown to tens of thousands, daily.

Oh my, the wonders of free SEO blog content.

So the big question now for those still in the dark is how a person generates those magic keyword phrases to help them create free SEO blog content?

Blog and Ping is STILL a great method to still get your website indexed.

1. First, create a blog, you can use either WordPress on your own servers, or get one on a blog site such as Blogger.com.

2. Second create a list of links to your website and post them to your blog every 3-24 hours.

3. After you post new content to your blog, you ping a list of ping services such as Pingomatic.com. This brings search engine spiders to your blogs a LOT faster than they would normally come.

A lot of the "gurus" out there have been telling people that blog and ping has been dead since August 05. Well, I JUST STARTED in August 05 using Blog and Ping and it worked great then and it still does today, just a little bit slower.

I can get 20 pages indexed in Yahoo in 1-2 days and then Yahoo! Slurp just indexes the whole site within about a month. Google is very random with blog and ping, but when they do come around it is really great - I am talking about 40k pages indexed in 3 days. Pages get into MSN really quick as well, not as many as Yahoo and Google but it's not a big deal because MSN doesn't send nearly as much traffic anyway.

One reason a lot of people don't start to blog and ping is because of the cost of software, well here is a free set of blog and ping programs for you:

No, I'm not going to start this article off with a cliché such as "a blog is this, they are new, they are so powerful etc etc". No my friend, if you have read articles about blogging in the past than you'll know exactly what I'm talking about, and I'm sure that you're getting sick and tired of hearing the same regurgitated garbage that these folks are feeding you.

Well guess what, I have an interesting surprise for you today my friend! Today we will not be using half of this article to explain what a blog is because the fact of the matter is, 99% of you know what a blog is and very possibly own one. So strap on your seatbelts, grab a coffee and get ready! Because I'm about to take you on a jouey through the mystical realms of blog promotion. And here it goes:

Creating A Buzz:

Many bloggers overlook the importance of such a significant blog marketing strategy. Now I want to ask you a few questions:

  • Why do people visit your blog?
  • What makes your blog so special?
  • What is so different about your blog compared to your competitors?

Do you understand where I am coming from? Let me ask you another question. Would you rather visit a blog that is entertaining, that is unique and unlike any other blog in the blogosphere, something which really makes you laugh, something that has the potential to reduce you to tears? Or would you like to see a blog with articles that have been roughly scraped and reprinted from the article directories? Heck, I'd much prefer the first option any day!

You see there are three types of people within the blogging field. There are those who write for the purpose of writing, they have no idea that they can possibly ea a residual income from simply posting their thoughts on an online joual.

Then you get the ignorant, annoying and absolutely pathetic so called "inteet marketers" who create scripts that create thousands of blogs per minute and thousands of posts per second. These people have no intention whatsoever of entertaining human beings, their only motif is to ea a little income from AdSense through a technique what people would now call 'splogging' and trust me, their days are almost over.

The last category is where you want to be. These types of people write for the purpose of entertaining, informing and communicating with their blogship, and at the same time they are also trying to ea a decent income from such programs as AdSense. These people have got their priorities straight and realize that to get the most from their blog they must create a buzz and excitement that will in tu have visitors coming back again and again. One very strong characteristic that these certain people employ is they write their posts in a way that will not only spark their blogship's emotions but they also cleverly craft their posts in a way which will attract the search engine spiders to visit and index their blog high up within the search engine rankings.

But the truly successful bloggers realize that in order to lead a successful blog there must be a reason for people to visit. This reason must be a strong reason, it must be entertaining, informative and different from all the other blogs. Here are some guiding factors which have helped me spark lots of interest within my blogship:

  • Humour
  • Entertainment
  • New stuff
  • News
  • Giving away freebies

I promise that by mixing these ingredients and stirring them into your blog you will leave you having hungry, loyal visitors waiting in line to see your next post. If not, then I give you permission to slap me over the face with a wet sardine.

So there you have it! Welcome to the wonderful world of blog promotion. Now get out of here and create a buzz for your blog, create excitement, create controversy and most of all have fun doing it!

What gives when foreign citizens attempt to bad-mouth other countries on inteational news blogs? Why is it okay for a British Citizen to dictate US Policy? Recently a few foreign citizens have been condemning the United States Military who will not yield to Inteational Terrorism or quit against the insurgents. One of the British Citizens and a pro-US Military man go at it. Listen to this exchange of verbal gun fire;

"And tell me oh wise one...who WINS a war? When a bomb rips a baby to pieces and a mother is screaming with misery"

"Oh I see you are denying our precision munitions now? You may as well be a bleeding heart liberal from NY? Listen to you talk."

You state; "It seems to me that American answer to everything is either BULLY, KILL, BE VIOLENT or LIE."

"Do I feel an inferiority complex from the UK? That great nation which we kicked your butts? That nation who wanted to rule the world and could not even take back the Falkland Islands, as some old vintage A-4s fired right thru your mighty warships? We have individual citizens giving more to help those needy Africans than your whole country has set aside. Do not diminish my great nation and do not mistake our acts of kindness as weakness? Who is lying? The former Middle East Dictator or you want to blame the US for everything, even GB backslide into the foot notes of great civilizations which once were. Check the name. My ancestors built the Plymouth Colony, while your good for nothing King tried to rule as a dictator."

The British subject had no further comment once again beaten into oblivion by logic and American Resolve. So the pro-US Military man stated in closing;

"I support fully the US Military, President of the United States of America, the war in Iraq, disarming Iran by any and all means possible, collapsing Hamas govement, killing and removing all insurgents and inteational terrorism World Wide. So tell us what do you support? Namecalling, weakness, usury and quitting; well no thanks."

When I first heard of the word "blog" years ago in the mid 90's, I was puzzled as to why I did not hear it earlier, having been immersed in the English language for more that 4 decades!

Naturally, I reached for my half-a-dozen copies of dictionaries on the shelf to check for its meaning but I could not find one. The reason is simple…… the word "BLOG" simply did not exist in my dictionaries including the Oxford Dictionary!

A frantic search led me to Oxford Dictionary of Mode Slang that eventually gave me a clue. It says "blog noun An Inteet website containing an eclectic and frequently updated assortment of items of interest to its author. 1999-. [Shortening of weblog.] So blogger, noun"

Not happy with this half-hearted and vague explanation, I ventured into the Web to do further "research".

Lo and behold! I've got some more meaningful citations. Below is a list of these.

- Blog is short for weblog. A weblog is a joual (or newsletter) that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Blogs generally represent the personality of the author or the Web site.

- A blog is basically a joual that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger." Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog.

- A blog is information that is instantly published to a Web site. Blog scripting allows someone to automatically post information to a Web site. The information first goes to a blogger Web site. Then the information is automatically inserted into a template tailored for your Web site.

- A short form for weblog, a frequent and chronological publication of comments and thoughts on the web. They usually include philosophical reflections, opinions on the Inteet and social or political issues.

- Web LOG is a joual kept on the inteet. This joual is often updated daily and contains all information that the person maintaining the BLOG (Blogger) wishes to share with the world. Also applies to websites dedicated to a particular topic and being updated with the latest news, views and trends.

There's no need to go on because I'm now more than satisfied.

Many years have passed since and blogging has come a long way indeed. Not only can you do all the above mentioned, you could now make full use of it to promote and expand your Inteet business.

Savvy marketers have discovered that blogging is one of the best Inteet marketing methods that is free because you could create your blog almost immediately at no cost compared to the setting up of a conventional website.

Putting information in your blog to help establishing your presence in the Web is now a growing phenomenon. Blogging for your Inteet business is one surefire way to enhance the visibility of your products and services.

With the continuing improvement in software technology, publishing, introducing plug-ins, banners, pictures etc to create a fun and interesting "website" has become a breeze even to those with old and rusty brains like me.

Here is what you could do to improve your Inteet online business:-

1) Give advice to your visitors on specific tips, tricks and opportunities related to your own business with the objective to increase awareness not only about yourself but also your business. This will establish you as an authority with customers, prospects and casual visitors through your publications.

2) Encourage readers to leave their comments and feedback. Positive feedback could some times help you to improve your website design, layout, content and hence your buisness.

3) Make announcement and broadcasting on any new changes or offers available in your main websites, for instance, new products and/or services.

4) All your postings in your blog could be kept in an Archive file which is very friendly for retrieving. You can therefore keep track of all your business plans and old but important information. 5) Any articles which you have written and posted could be reprinted by others for their own websites with your permission on condition that the resource box about the author remains unchanged i.e. with all your important URLs intact. This would link your websites to other websites hence exposing your business to more visitors.

6) Try adding fresh and quality content to it on a regular basis since search engines like fresh content. As a result, search engines will list your website in their directories. As soon as you have pages of your blog in the search engines, you'll start attracting free traffic to your site without having to paying a dime for it.

7) Include links that will fetch back links and subsequently improve your ranking on search engines. Affiliate links in the form of advertisement banners could also be included in your blog to ea more extra income.

8) You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. You can have some kind of link exchanges with other bloggers for mutual benefits of increasing traffic to your blog and other main websites.

9) In summary, there's almost no limit to what you could and want to do with your blog. You can include your ideas, opinions, expertise in your field of work, resumes, home recipes, pictures, streaming audio or video clips, e-books, poetry, products, services, consultations etc., etc.

What are the main differences between a blog and a website then? You may ask.

Most websites are relatively permanent with only occasional updating. With blogs, you could post any new content almost on daily basis. Also, websites are usually less personal as far as their relationship with the visitors is conceed.

Visitors to your blog could leave comment after their visits which sometimes could prompt a follow-up discussion between you and them resulting with both parties leaing from each another.

So how do you start blogging? There are many host services providers you could join. Among the most popular are Blogger.com and LiveJoual.com. I'm using Blogger.com which I find serving my needs just perfectly.

In closing, you must realize that to be successful in running your business blog, you need to be very passionate about products and services. Share your ideas, opinions and thoughts to assert yourself as an authority in your field. The visitors who are your customers or potential customers would remember your blog and keep coming back.

COME BLOG WITH ME TODAY and ride the crest of the business blogging wave! Happy blogging!

If you want to build a successful blog, there are three main things that can certainly help you get started. Although many people think that building a successful blog is one of the easiest tasks out there, they are wrong. A successful blog takes more than just setting up a blog page to chat about your life. You need to focus on these three building blocks in order to even have the framework for a successful blog. Even these three building blocks are not enough however to make your blog successful. Read on to lea exactly what you need to make your blog as successful as possible. The Look The first building block for a successful blog is The Look. What this means is that your blog should start with an appropriate style. You can begin when you first start your blog. Many blogging software programs will help you out with the style of your blog. If you are using a blogging program that caters most to beginners, you will see that it will offer different templates for you to choose. There will be something for everyone. You can go through the templates to choose which colors you like best for the layout. Experiment with the layouts to see which templates look best on the computer screen. You can always go back and change the template later if you want to change the look of your blog. Make sure that if you are creating your own blog, without using a pre-created template that you make it look as professional as possible. You can even hire a professional to do the job for you if you wish. The more professional your blog looks, the more seriously your readers will take your posts. The Content The content of your blog is the second key building block you will need for a successful blog. While you can choose to create posts that have no direction or purpose, you will find that when you post interesting commentary or short information filled articles that your traffic will increase. Although you may think it is interesting, most readers will not enjoy reading about your day to day activities, unless you make them into humorous stories. It should also be noted that the more content you have on your site, the more successful your site will be. It is basically a numbers game at this point. The more you post, the more chances you will have the one of your posts will attract the eye of someone searching for a related topic. The Ads The third building block is advertising. Bloggers can make a steady income using advertising on their blogs. The trick is to have a good mixture of ads and content however. If you fill your blog with ads and have no content for readers, they will be distracted and not visit your site again. A good rule to remember is that you should never have more than two or three ads per blog page. This is an important rule to remember. You should not overwhelm you readers with ads. You should only present them so that the readers can further explore them if they wish. Don't use flashing ads or other bold ads that will annoy your readers. Choosing the right type of advertising program is part of it as well. Look into an easy to use program such as Google Adsense if you want a quick way to get started in the advertising arena. The Dedication The most important building block of a great blog is dedication. You must be willing to be dedicated to the blog. You have to put in the time and energy to get positive results. Even if you have the other three components, unless you take the time to update your posts each day, you will not be getting optimum results. Dedication can help a lot. It can hide the fact that you are a beginner and allow you to create a beautiful and functional blog. No matter how little experienced you are dedication can cover that up. You can have a great blog as long as you take the time to give some of your energy to the project.

Not only are there a lot of people out there blogging for fun, many of them are finding ways to make money by blogging. There are a number of ways an income from blogging can be achieved, but one of the most popular is by affiliating your blog. If you are blogging or considering starting a blog and you are not yet affiliated, you will quickly find that you should. Otherwise, you are just leaving money on the table that you may not have to. The first thing you may be asking yourself is this: what is an affiliate program? Well, that is a great question and one easily answered. An affiliate program is one where the seller offers a part of the money generated by a sale to those who refer customers to them. There are, in fact, a lot of websites out there who are parts of affiliate programs. With these companies, you need to sign up. You will, in most cases, be given a unique ID from that affiliate. That ID is for identifying you as the one who has referred the customer to the site and made the sale. If, then, you are successful in helping to sell the product, you receive payment that is generally stated in whatever your affiliate agreement includes. The amount you might get paid ranges greatly. You may make as little as one cent in US dollars or as much as one hundred US dollars depending on the product, the company, and sometimes the amount you help to sell. Once you have made the decision to use an affiliate program and have figured out which one you want to use, then you are ready to get started. Sign up and register for the affiliate program and start adding your affiliate's codes to your blog. Ah, but there is the next issue: how do you include affiliate links? There are a few ways you can do that. First of all, you can do reviews about a product and then link to that product through your affiliate program (obviously you would need it to be a product offered by your affiliate program). A second way, if you don't want to do a review, is to compile a recommended list that is either in a blog entry or along the side of your blog. A third way to get your affiliate program involved in your blog is to use codes or scripts in your coding that will generate random links to products in your affiliate program. Once you have your links and your program in place, it will be all about product. It is important to note that most people are not going to keep reading a website if they think it is just all about selling. Make sure your content, which you update regularly, is useful to the reader. You want that reader to keep coming back and hopefully working through your affiliates, so you really should concentrate on good, solid, useful content that is going to keep your readers coming back and not make them feel like they are being sold all the time. If, however, you really want to sell, you should try to label your site as a commercial endeavor. Keep those things in mind and your affiliate program will hopefully help you tu a profit. No matter what your blogging experience may be, it is possible that you can blog for fun and profit at the same time. There are a number of ways to make a profit off of your blog, but the most common right now is to affiliate yourself with certain other sites and products. Affiliate programs generally cost little or no money and can help you make money on your own. They are basically a way of getting commission from helping someone to sell a product or service. So find the ones that work with the theme of your blog and get those codes up on your site. Once they are up, make sure you are finding ways to drive traffic to them without going overboard on the selling and making sure your content is useful. Stick with these tips and stays focused and before you know it, your blog can become a success through the use of a good affiliate program.

What do I mean by how you blog?

One of the most common mistakes made by the novice blogger is to fill their blog with 60 - 80% recycled content. Sure, it's fine to quote other sources and give your opinion. But just re-blogging other posts, or cutting and pasting reprint articles does not a great blogger make.

And maybe you don't want to be a Great blogger. Perhaps you don't have the time.

But you do want to be at least a good blogger, or you are killing your blog's incredible potential to be a search engine magnet, as well as boost your traffic and sales from both first time and retu visitors.

Your content doesn't have to be picture perfect, and you don't have to make article-length posts to your blog.

But what you do need is:

* Blog Posts that Engage Your Audience * Blog Material that is either Original in Topic, or Original in Approach * More Original Content than Re-Hashed * Unique Viewpoints, Sources or Perspectives to add to content that you quote.

Does when you post to your blog make a difference?

Yes. You're going to find that some days of the week get you a better response, maybe because more people are online. Or perhaps if you're an entrepreneur, informing other micro-business owners, you might find that certain times of day work best for you.

Paying attention to trends that work best for your site for the time of day, week, and even year, can bring a measurable boost to your readership. Some people, myself included, even find that blogging when more people are likely to be on their site brings a boost in sales.

There isn't much hard data as to why that is, but when you think about an offline analogy, it makes sense. I don't know about you, but if I'm browsing a store in a mall, it greatly increases the chances that I'll leave without buying if no one is around.

Does that mean you have to be around and blogging all the time? Not necessarily. But if you see a dip in traffic or sales when you haven't posted in a while, a few short posts may help reverse the trend.

There's also a certain pace of blogging that can help you secure your search engine positions once you obtain them - but that's another article.

While there is a lot of debate about blogs replacing emails in the future, I would rather look at blogs in a different perspective. The purpose of all technology is to make life easier for the user. Blogging is an evolving technology which when haessed by an individual could make it very easy for anyone to communicate effectively. It empowers the individual in ways hitherto not available so easily. Blogs are dynamic web pages which can be created by anyone without any hassles of technical knowledge about web design or HTML. It is an easy to use program like the email. Just type and click to be visible as a web page. All major email players like Yahoo, MSN and Google now provide a blogging service. Just sign up for free select a template and follow the customization instructions and within moments you are online with your web page. How can an individual use Blogging for benefit? Use it as a Method of Personal or Public Communication Use it to post your communications to a select group of people or widely and publicly to communicate within your specific area of expertise or business. Use It As Your Joual We all know the importance of writing a joual. You can make a joual of events and thoughts which you may feel will help others. You can write about your life and work, the society, your views on everything which you feel counts and others must know about it. In a evolving society individual expression and the freedom to self publish can bring about a global social revolution by shaping opinions jointly with the community and spreading like a viral. Knowledge Sharing Use your blog to write articles, views and comments on your industry. Use it to share knowledge about your industry. This will project you as an expert improving your business and career. Networking You can link to others in your area of expertise or industry by linking with similar blogs. This will help you network and create a wider context as well as content for your blog. With a comments feature added to your blog you can make it interactive with more joining your blog, adding fresh perspectives to issues. Business Tool It is the most cost effective tool for small business or professionals working independently. You can use the blog to promote your business, interact with your customers, give advice and develop business with an interactive web page where your readers can post their own comments and feedback. It is still early days. Just register and start blogging for your own self development.

Not long ago a blog was simply an online diary. Initially, people decided that blogging was describing, in excruciating detail, how their day went, what they had for dinner last night, and why they spent the whole weekend doing laundry.

Since then, blogging made the transition into the business arena. Now blogs are frequently being used as business jouals, tools that can help keep your customers and web site visitors up to date with what is going on with your company. A business blog is an excellent tool to toot your own ho, let the world know about your new products, and tell your target customers why they should do business with you, rather than your competitor.

Don't have a blog for your business yet? No problem! Here is how you can start blogging in just five easy steps:

* Set up a blog for your business. If you don't want to have to set up things on your own, visit Blogger.com. Blogger will host your blog on its server, so that you don't have to add anything to your own web site.

On the other hand, if you'd like to set something up on your own, get blogging software from WordPress.org

* Make your blog an extension of your business identity. The look and feel of your blog should match that of your business web site. Don't forget to include your logo!

* Don't make the blog into a giant ad. Your readers will immediately recognize that ruse and stop reading the blog. Instead, post the items that are of interest to your current and potential customers. Use the blog to post tips and ideas, articles, information about new products, etc.

* Strike a balance between personal and business stuff. While customers like to read the blog to lea about the person behind the business, don't use the blog as a tool to vent, complain and discuss the details of your personal life. You use the blog to converse with your customers, so the blog should be as professional as your newsletter and phone conversations with customers.

It is great to post a story about how you helped a client get an important product out on time, and how proud that made you feel. It might not be appropriate to post a story about an argument you had with a video store clerk over the weekend.

* Leverage your Blog. When you are in business, you realize that many customers have similar questions/conces. Address these conces in your blog, and when another customer has the same conce, link directly to the blog entry that answers these conces.

A blog is an excellent tool to reach potential customers, rank higher in search engines and generate more of the ever-important visitor traffic to your web site.

Mainstream media has become a single-minded authority on how we should perceive life. Theirs is a negative perspective. Could there be a new way of hearing the stories we feel are relevant in our lives?

If you're anything like me you are really getting tired of the mainstream media's one-voice-to-many analysis of life on Earth. First of all, it's just too negative! I read a survey recently that stated that fourteen out of fifteen newspaper and TV News stories had negative fear-based stories. I don't know about you, but if I look at my everyday life, the amount of good and bad I experience seems to be much more balanced. Why does the 'big' media think we all love hearing the dark side of things so much?

If you look at what news stories truly are in historical terms, it is a person sitting around the tribal campfire at night telling a tale to inform the people both in wisdom and knowledge. In any tribe there were many storytellers, so different perspectives were always available to the masses. Well, if you think today's media sources are too monopolized in their power of authority over the stories we are told, there's a new option for humanity. The answers and views we are seeking in our daily lives could lie in the Inteet. This Inteet thing really could be the key for humanity to evolving into a species that thinks independently, leaving this age of fear behind.

It's time to bypass the main media sources. On the Web we can access non-profit news organizations, we can hear personal views of individuals in news forums and blogs, we can even express our own views on world issues as well as sharing our own personal experiences! With this newly accepted technology called RSS Readers we can start to get the type of information that we feel is most relevant to ourselves as individuals. It comes straight to us and then we can sort through it and decide which people and sources we want to hear from on a regular basis. This is awesome as it means we don't have to search through a bunch of stories that have little interest to us. It also means if we want to hear more positivism, we can push the negative views out of our perceptions.

Although this idea is in its infancy, the repercussions once realized could have a mammoth impact on how individual humans see and live their lives on Earth. Imagine a society that stretches across the globe where a collective consciousness speaks to itself in an informative many-to-many communicative process. There are a lot of happy, positive, intelligent people in this world who are interested in similar things to you. Wouldn't you like to hear their stories and share their knowledge as a way of constructing your view of reality?

Let's leave behind this era of negative perspectives and singular authorities telling us how life on Earth should be viewed. It is interesting that some of the most over-wealthy, greedy individuals media moguls who tell us what is important. Don't you want to have a say in how you look at your life while you are here? Positivism and wisdom surrounds us at all times. Would the Universe exist otherwise? Lets reconnect with that source of energy that makes us smile so many times each day. If life were meant to have so bleak an outlook, would there even be stars in the sky?

If you haven't noticed already, blogs are the new big thing on the Inteet. In case you don't know what a blog is, I'll let you in on the not-so-secret secret. A blog is a website that is in joual or diary form. Essentially, it's a place online where you can write about your life and your interests and share yourself with the rest of the world. Jouals used to be secret books you hid under the bed, so this is a huge change in paradigm for this medium. Now, it's about telling other people in the world what you think and do. The blogging community is already massive; there are millions of human beings with these new, simplistic websites, everywhere from Timbuktu to Kalamazoo.

For a little research into the blog craze I went to one of the biggest blogging sites, http://www.blogger.com which is now owned by Google. This site is pretty cool, and within a very short time you can have your own free template-based blog set up complete with your specified name. Your URL or web address usually has the name 'blogspot' after it, which can look a little unprofessional but I've heard that there is some way of getting around this obstacle. Otherwise, you can always go to a web-hosting company and set up a blog which will be more original in its design, as well as having any address you like. Meanwhile, I checked out three blogs at Blogger to see how and why people are making their online jouals.

At http://funnycute.blogspot.com/ I found a really interesting social diary made by a cartoonist. One thing that made the joual entries so attractive to read were of course, the cartoons. She really is a great artist. The images-as they are self-drawn, add much-needed life to the text, as well as producing an individual authenticity which gives visitors instantaneous deep insight into the personality of the artist. Her blog site is obviously very popular as each entry has around 50 comments made by others attached to it. This is one of the main reasons why people write blogs: to connect with others of like-mind. This blog is well constructed as it has a good biography of the human being who it belongs to, lots of links to other blogs that relate to its general topic (in this case 'cartoons'), and it has a link to the artist's personal website. See, that's the real phenomenon, to have both a blog and a general website. With the blog we get to see the workings of the mind behind the artist, whereas at her personal website, in this case: (http://www.katienice.homestead.com/), we get the opportunity to have a look at her professional portfolio.

The second blog site I checked out was at http://www.birdchick.com/blog.html. This site interested me because of photos of birds and other animals that accompany each day's joual writing (again that essence of true life and not just text on a page makes it interesting). Here is a person whose site definitely focuses on the one central theme, in this case bird-watching. A standout on her blog's home page is the long list of blog links, both to other personal bird-watching blogs, as well as to general media-owned bird-watching sites. One cool section of the list is dedicated to bird webcams. These are actual websites that have 24-hour-long camera shots of certain areas where specific types of birds are known to frequent (E.G. Great Hoed Owls). What'll people think of next? Again there is a link to the blog owner's own personal website, http://www.birdchick.com/, which I assume is supported by a web-hosting company. Check it out, it has a cool photo of the blogger holding a huge hawk (I think it's a hawk, I'm not very knowledgeable about the world of Oithology!) on her arm. She's even gone to the trouble (unless someone else out there did it) to put her website up in French as well.

The final blog I visited was called 'Paradise Found' which was located at http://tomquinn.blogspot.com/. An interesting point about the blogger at this site is that they reside (in the blogger's own words) on a small speck of rock in the middle of the Atlantic (Bermuda). This just shows that even in a place so remote that people have even believed it to be supeatural ('The Bermuda Triangle is where planes and ships are often reported to go missing never to be seen again), the Inteet is alive and well and individuals are sharing their experiences, hobbies, beliefs, and interests with the rest of the now-interconnected planet. The blogger here calls his blog a 'Photo blog'. Every diary entry contains at least one photograph personally taken by the photographer himself. There is also a link to his site at http://flickr.com/photos/tquinn/ where he has an archive of over 400 pictures that he's taken. Again this patte of blog for thoughts and personal points of view matched up and linked to a general website showing actual work, a portfolio, or general life interest, seems to be the way most people are now communicating with each other over the Web.

Today we are gaining so much more insight into what life is like for other people in the world. It seems that having both a blog and a website has been a natural progression undertaken by people who truly want to share themselves and their ideas with the rest of the human community.

Many bloggers rely upon revenue created by Google's popular contextual advertising program, Adsense. In all honesty, Adsense has probably been the driving force behind the increased level of interest in using blogs as a revenue producing tool. However, not all bloggers are able to use Adsense and it may not meet the specific needs of some other users.

If you have a blog that produces a nice stream of traffic and are looking for alteatives to Adsense, you may want to consider some of these options:

Adgenta. Adgenta is a keyword based advertising program that allows users to insert ads into their blog. Every time an ad is clicked, the blogger is paid a flat rate of $.015US. Adsense determines which ads to display based on its own assessment of your page's content. Adgenta, on the other hand, allows you to choose which keywords you would like it to use in choosing advertisements. This can be a great solution for those who have pages that fail to serve up relevant Adsense ads or for those who tend to get only very low paying ads and feel there are related subjects that would induce clicks from users. Adgenta's interface is simple and sign up is free. The ads are actually inserted into your site using simple HTML blocks and the ads are actually linked graphics, unlike the more complicated script used by Adsense.

Yahoo. Yahoo has launched YPN, its version of Adsense and preliminary reports indicate that it may be a profitable solution for those unable to use Adsense. The Yahoo system works in a manner various similar to Adsense, and Adsense users should be able to utilize the program easily. Although still in its infancy, the program is backed by a major player, which lends it a greater degree of long-term reliability. Unfortunately, the YPN project is still in beta and one must apply for or receive an invitation to participate.

Ad Networks. Instead of relying on a pay-per-click model, many bloggers have decided to sell space on their blogs for advertising. This can be accomplished by the blogger directly or through the use of an ad brokerage. Those who feel your blog will attract the type of audience likely to find their product appealing may rent space for an advertisement on your site. If you have a blog that receives a significant number of well-targeted visitors, selling advertising space can be a great alteative to the Adsense PPC model.

Other options abound. Chikita mini-malls, using your blog as a way to launch affiliate sales, text link programs, the new MSN contextual advertising program and a host of alteatives are available. If Adsense doesn't work for your blog, or you cannot use Adsense, there are some other credible ways to make your blog a financial winner. Adsense may be the biggest game in town, but it certainly is not the only one!

You've heard the come-ons from dozens of sales sites: "Make Money Online NOW", "The Easy Way to Riches", "Work From Home And Make Big Bucks!", and thought, yeah, right.

But what if I told you that yes, indeed, you can make a very comfortable income, in just a couple of hours a day, from your cozy home office? (Wearing anything you like.) Further, what if I told you that some of the biggest companies in the world are slavering at the mouth to have you do just that? Career bloggers are in great demand.

What's a career blogger?

A career blogger is a person who is hired to blog (write a Web log) for a company, on a contract, usually for three to six month periods. A career blogger can also be a blogging entrepreneur, someone who sets up a number of blogs and monetizes them in various ways. In this article, we discuss becoming a blogger-for-hire, a blogging mercenary, if you will.

You can become a career blogger

I started working as a career blogger around a year ago. Businesses have realized the benefits of a blog: great content for their sites, wonderful customer relationship benefits, plus taking charge of their reputation management online.

How to get started as a career blogger

The first step in your career blogging venture is to create a blog. This "starter" blog will act as your blogging resume, or portfolio. You can set up your blog in a couple of minutes at Blogger.com at http://www.blogger.com/start

Do a little planning first. Decide what your blog's topic will be. As a career blogger, you'll be blogging for businesses as a blogger-for-hire, so if you have business smarts, your blog is the place to show it. If you're a marketer, for example, your blog's topic could be in the area of marketing, sales, branding -- any topic that you feel comfortable writing about every week.

On the other hand, if your marketing job bores you silly, choose an area about which you'd like to know more. Perhaps you're interested in investments, or in real estate. Both areas have companies which want and need bloggers, so choose one of those topics -- your blog will be interesting to your readers, because you're leaing about your topic, and your enthusiasm for it will shine through.

Choosing a name for your blog

You can choose a name for your blog in various ways:

* For branding purposes (a name you choose because you intend it to represent your business, and will promote it heavily). Companies like Yahoo!, Nike, and Google all chose their names so they could build a recognizable brand).

* To get found more easily (by using keywords)

* To raise your profile online (by using your own name)

Get hired!

You've got your blog, now you need a blogging job. How will you find one? Via your blog, of course. All blog platforms create an About, or Profile page. Just reveal your availability on the page.

Don't want to wait for them to hire you? Type "blogger job" into Google's search query box, without the quotes. You'll find dozens of jobs. You can also explore job-search venues like Monster.com at http://www.monster.com/

Good luck. You'll find career blogging great fun, satisfying and lucrative. Get started career blogging now. Many bloggers start off moonlighting their blogging, before they go full-time, and you can too.

Not too many weeks from now, you'll be thinking: "Make Money Online NOW", "The Easy Way to Riches", "Work From Home And Make Big Bucks!": OH YEAH!

Blogs are currently very hot property online. It is not therefore surprising to note that the sites with a high number of regular traffic tend to be blogs. But before you even go into the process of creating your blog, you will need to know for what purpose you are going to use your blog. Many online entrepreneurs usually use them to quickly create a huge traffic that they then re-direct to their websites. If this is your objective then the idea would be to create blogs with popular themes that are related to your websites.

Other successful online entrepreneurs use blogs just the way one would use a website, only that blogs seem to be a hybrid version of ordinary websites. This is mainly because of the popular features that hardly exist in most websites. One of the most prominent is that of readers having an opportunity to leave comments and the fact that they usually almost effortless are able to build up links and ultimately traffic to phenomenal levels.

You could of course go ahead and hire a top-notch web designer to design your blog for you. But it would make much more sense to avoid spending money to start with and still get a great looking professional site for free. You can then always upgrade your blog later to pay status, when you have already started enjoying some good revenue from it.

Admittedly, the problem with most free sites is that you may not be able to get a great looking professional blog without moving to a pay service immediately. However there are exceptions here. If for instance you opt for SiteKreator then this will not be a problem. This remarkable site has a wide array of features and facilities that should make a great difference to how your blog looks and with what ease you are still able to run and administrate it.

The popular blogger.com owned by Google, Inc. has been around the inteet for a while.

But still no matter how appealing a Blog may seem now a days there are still a few people that does not actually get to know what really a Blog is.

Well, a Blog is a type of website that allows you as its owner to easily put in your messages and publish it online.

It's more like a joual or a diary type of site, but what's interesting is it's not hidden from others like a normal diary where in only you can write and see it.

A Blog is your personal site and your online diary at the same time. It is a place where you post something and other may post a comment about your post. It's actually a great site to publish your own opinion and "what you think" thingy.

Now, with all those features how come it's also a marketing tool? For some it may seem to be a diary or a joual but for some it is more likely to be a place to advertise products and market them.

Why? Because of the ability of Blogs to be crawled easily by search engines and because of the nature of a Blog that makes it look like an e-campus class that consist of a teacher and students. Advertisers, marketers and even programmers can make use of a Blog to post in messages about their products and users could post in their comments too.

A Blog is easily crawled by search engines because it is a content based site and search engines loves sites with great content volumes. I have a Blog my self at http://prialde.blog.com and with in 24 hours I can already search my Blog at Google Search.

A Blog is a great tool indeed. The answer now to the question, "Do I Really Need It?" is up to you to answer. Just remember no site is great without others knowing it.

Here are some of the Blogs I love to spend some time on.

Blogs are indexed fast by search engines. Opinions about the reasons why vary at the moment but I compare blogs with websites and blog posts with webpages.

So, in order to score high in the search engines, this is what you should do.

1. Optimize your blog post. Every blog post has to be about one and only one (sub)topic. In that post you should target only one keyword and repeat that keyword several times in the body. You can sprinkle a secondary keyword throughout the text as well, but focus on your primary one. Also that keyword should definitely be in the title of your post. And if you use headers, put it in there too.

When writing your posts you always want to present valuable information to your readers while at the same time you want to satisfy the search engines for a certain keyword. Many blog posts are a personal opinion written from the heart, so sometimes that's a dilemma. Here's a little trick I use.

I just write my post in a text editor (I use Textpad (http://www.textpad.com/), easy to use, fast splitting of wrapped lines). I then save the post on my hard disk and fire up my tiny little free Keyword Extractor (http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/keyex.htm). That tool immediately shows you which words you have used most. And that will often help to decide which keywords to use. On the other hand, written from the heart is often what searches want to find. So don't overdo it. Use this as a tool.

2. Use links in your blogs. If you use a link in your post, add your primary keyword to the anchor text. You can also tu that the other way around. See if you can find a valuable link for your primary keyword and then link to it. Here's why.

By their nature, blogs actually are simple text content directories. The blog software only let's you manage that content. Since most blog posts use text links the anchor text is very important. That's why you should include your keywords in them.

3. Very carefully select your blog categories. This strongly depends on the blogging software you use, but at some point your posts will get archived into categories. This is a very powerful feature, because it's like having a subdirectory or a subdomain on your website containing text about the same (sub)topic. You therefore should select your categories carefully.

They should be closely related to eachother. There's a natural tendency to keep adding categories as you write new posts about other topics, but don't go overboard. It's sometimes better to start a new blog than keep adding categories.

4. Define your blog theme. This is a bit vague, because it shouldn't be too broad or too narrow. It's very difficult to outline the borders here, but you can use the number of categories as a rule of thumb. You see, you can't cover all topics in one blog. So if you're about to add a new category that is somewhat unrelated, think about it. Maybe it's just better to start a new blog.

5. Link your blog to your websites v.v. People often forget that it's the linking that makes the Inteet work. Linking all your sites, even the free ones, together can boost your link popularity. Since blogs are a lot of fun you sometimes forget to link to and from them. Don't let this happen to you.

At the bottom of every page on www.AnOwnSite.com you can see the sites I operate. And yes, they link to eachother.

Also do not forget to link from your blog to some important pages of your own site containing valuable information. Blogging is quite anonymous and that's certainly the case with the feeds involved. You don't know who's reading your post in a feed reader. When you have links in it pointing to your site that can boost your traffic!

6. Make comments in other blogs Since blogs and blog posts are picked up really fast by search engines you can profit from this by adding your comments to other people's blogs. It's the natural way of exchanging links in the blog world. Posting useful and relevant comments frequently also brands you as an expert!

7. Provoke comments Blogs are great to express personal opinions. As long as you do not bash anyone and keep everything decent you can write provoking posts to stimulate your readers to post their feelings. Another way to achieve that is just ask. How about this one: Are Free Traffic Exchanges Valuable (http://www.affordable-inteet-marketing.com/index.php?p=30)?

As stated above, blogs by nature are just text content directories. Posts are often about only one detail of a topic. A lot of text, less HTML and no fancy gimmicks. And for the most part the links from and to such posts are natural, sincere and very relevant. Combine that with the frequently changing content and there you may have the reason that search engines love blogs and index them fast.

So, what are you waiting for. Get your own blog. Post often and use the guidelines above to optimize them.

That's it for today. Wish you success. Case Stevens

"A weblog (usually shortened to blog, but occasionally spelled web log) is a web application presented as a webpage consisting of periodic posts, normally in reverse chronological order"- en.wikipedia.org. As you add content to your blog, new posts are automatically positioned on top of previous posts, so your visitors can see "what's new." Then they can comment on it or link to it or e-mail you if they choose to do so. A weblog is edited, organized and published often through a content management system or CMS. The blogs are online diaries or jouals where blogger expresses his feelings, creativity, research work with like minded surfers through her periodic articles. Or weblog can be resembled to an online diary where blogger submits his frequently visited links for reference of the visitors. The history of weblog can be traced back to the first website, http://info.ce.ch/, the site built by Tim Beers-Lee at CERN. In the '90s there were a handful of websites and the life was so easy. But with with the cluttering of thousands of new websites each day, things tued to be complicated and it became harder to find relevant information easily. Some novel eWiz like Brigitte Eaton, Jo Barger, Peter Merholz, James Garrett,Cameron Barrett produced an alteative way to thread a particular topic related websites in a page or link for more convenience of the surfers to find content oriented sites in a single bucket ! The idea grew popularity, and a number of webmasters each day sent their URLs for listing in their websites. The term "weblog" was coined by Jo Barger in December 1997. The shorter version, "blog," was coined by Peter Merholz in 1999. As of March 2003, the Oxford English Dictionary included the terms weblog, weblogging and weblogger in their dictionary. Until '98 there were only a handful of weblogs in the net, but according to a report, more than 14 million blogs being published by the first quarter of 2005 !! The popularity of Weblog is gaining momentum. As per a survey conducted by Comscore.com, 50 Million US population ( i.e- 1 in 6 of total US population or 30% of the total US online population) visited blog sites in the first quarter of 2005. This represents a 45% increase compared to the quarter one of 2004. Blog visitors are 11% more likely than the average Inteet user to have incomes of $75,000 or more. According to the study, an average blog visitor spends 23 hours per weak online, while average Inteet users spent 13 hours online."The study also found that the blog visitors are 30% more likely to buy products or services online. While less that 40% of the total Inteet population made an online purchase at Q1 of 2005, 51% of the blog visitors did"- Comscore.com. This is just a replica of the universal acceptability of weblog these days. If you are an online marketer or thinking to start an online venture, I believe weblog is the best tool of Inteet marketing. Do you don't think so?? Like Ezine ads, an Affiliate can use weblog as a futuristic tool of online marketing. With a decent and cool content writting, even a starter categorically can create a big blogsphere and use it as a perpetual passive mean of generating targeted traffic. The advantages of weblog over concurrent websites as a tool of online marketing are astoundingly multifarious. First, weblogs are SE friendly i.e. you never have to submit your blog to any search engine. After you publish, your blog it will be submitted to the common search engines by the blog service provider. You never have to bother about on page criterions. Your META TAGS and KEY WORDs will be set automatically, eliminating the risk of keyword manipulation. Second, zero designing and operation cost. You never have to hire a web designer for designing your weblog, just choose the right template and publish. Third, Ping and Podcasting facilities promoting weblog as a viral marketing tool. With single click you are informing the whole world about your latest article updates. Fourth, the next advantage of weblog over a web site is the trackback facility, an automatic notification between websites of related content--such as a post on a particular topic or one which responds to a post on another blog . Use Trackback links when you quote or refer to other blog posts. Fifth, blogs are more likely RSS ( Really Simple Syndication) integrated. All blog service providers, including Blogger.com provide RSS feed link. When you update your new posting in weblog and you use RSS feed, the SE crawlers will visit your site and publish your content to across world wide web, all silently. Sixth, another great feature of blog is use of comment Seventh, blog is a more personalized form of ezine. In ezines and websites we express either our knowledge or services, but in blog we can express our live experiences as if we are talking to our best friend. Personalisation of postings increases the Conversion Ratio of traffic to customer. "Let's be honest here... We're all good at justifying excuses to ourselves. I've even done it a few times myself ! But there really is no excuse for not following your dream. You're only hurting yourself." - Corey Rudl. If you are an ambitious online marketer or if you are new to weblog, I can name a few of the best blogging service providers like Blogger.com, Livejoual.com, 360.Yahoo.com, Typepad.com, Blogs.com, Xanga.com, DiaryLand.com where you should publish your first blog to realize your dreams. Choose the write one and publish your own blog today. For more cross reference, content, RSS Feeding and listing of your blog you can use some of the Blog Directories like- Masteewedia.org, Blogger.com, Blogrankings.com, Blogcatalog.com, Blogsearchengine.com, Blogwise.com, Weblogs.com, Blogrolling.com, FeedBuer.com, EmarketingBlogs.com. Did you know that there are free ways that you can get links back to your blog oveight? That after a few days they can number in the hundreds?

No matter what you market on the inteet at some point you'll face the issue of increasing the number of visitors to your site. What most people don't know is that there are literally hundreds of ways to get free traffic. Here we'll focus on three overlooked ways to get additional traffic to your site using a blog.

The third most overlooked way to bring traffic to your site with a blog is to read and comment on other blogs.

Now, maybe you've done this before but stopped, because you're
becoming conceed about being considered a link-spammer. In
that case, leave a link to your site after your comments, instead of in the comment form that hot links it.

In the near future, blogmasters will be able to use special code to prevent spam in their comments section, so this will become less of a conce.

Besides, getting clicks from people who read comments, or visits from search engine spiders through your comments, isn't necessarily your direct objective, though it's definitely a plus.

What you want to do via commenting is to enter the blog community that corresponds to your target market. Get to know who the players are and make agreements with them to cycle traffic between you.

Or lurk to find out where your target market typically hangs out when they're online – you'd be surprised at how many inexpensive and targeted advertising sources you can find through this method.

(If you're looking to get linked, there's another way that we'll go over next.)

This tip alone has eaed me a few dozen links from prominent blogs in the past four days alone.

These links are worth ten times a reciprocal link because they send targeted traffic from established sources, and come from experts with records of proven results.

You can be sure these kinds of people will check you out before they linked to you, since they may be judged by the quality of the information they share.

The second method to more blog traffic is the most confusing for newer people, and this is probably the reason its benefits remain overlooked.

In the simplest of terms, Trackback is kind of a remote commenting system that incorporates linking. It allows the reader to follow a topic around the web to see other bloggers remark on the same subject. It enables the publisher to remotely cite references to the issue on which they've written.

Once you've made yourself familiar with the blogging community you have entered, you can often pick up the pulse of conversations within your site's theme. Then, when you see issues that you want to expound on, you can send the other site a notification to let them know you cited them on your blog. That link will appear on their site, and often draws visitors to you.
Bloggers who use Trackback often enjoy greater control over
this function in their blogs than they do over linking, as they have the option to reject your reference - so there is a lesser incidence of fraudulent linking. That also gives your link a greater chance of being displayed.

So why don't more people use Trackback?

One reason is that what is arguably the most popular free blog system, Blogger, doesn't have Trackback. However, Haloscan.com can remedy this with their free service – it's a cut and paste away.

Many new bloggers don't get what it is and how it differs from commenting. And of course, the dynamics of it are a little more complex than I've stated. But lea to use Trackback properly, and you won't need to beg for links to your site ever again.

It's harder to estimate an exact number of visitors that come as a result of trackback links. But if you posted five days out of seven, and was able to get a trackback link to your site three times a week, by the end of the year you'd have almost 150 topical links back to your site, which are more valued by search engines than a typical link trade with an unrelated site.

The most overlooked source of traffic for a blog is through article submission. To start with, tu your longer posts into articles and submitting them to ezines or directories. Look especially for directories that ask for the direct link to the article on your own site, and input the permanent link to the post on your blog.

Make sure that your Auto-Discovery tag is in place and it can mean hundreds more prospects, links and subscribers.

It's a shame this is the one of the least used traffic methods for most sites, let alone for blogs. In four days, this method generated just over 1000 visitors. 157 newsletter leads, 98 new feed subscribers, and 206 links to my site. You may not get these same results right away, but using these simple strategies can still get you more exposure than you have now.

These aren't normally the highest quality links, as they rarely make sure of anchor text. However, bloggers are citing me using Trackback, sometimes in lieu of linking to the site where they originally found the article.

To see this in action, do a search on "Can A Ping Really Help Your Blog Get Top Search Engine Rankings", the title of an article I submitted earlier this week.

That article was published within a week of this one- the results speak for themselves. Many of these sites aren't the ones where my articles are normally published.

There are, of course, plenty of other ways you can leverage the content in your blog or RSS feed to increase the traffic to your site. The methods outlined here may be a bit outside the norm, but, as you'll soon find, that's part of the reason they are so effective.

Many people begin to blog without any idea as to what they want to talk about and that's alright. What is it that they say about spontaneity being the spice of life. Or was that variety? Eh, one of those.

Anyway, when that first rush of creativity wears off, bloggers often find themselves abandoned by their muse on a dry but surprisingly crowded island called Writer's Blocktopia. Here are a few ways to flag down the rescue ship of inspiration:

  1. Read what you have written so far and try coming at your subject from a different angle. This is what professionals do. They take a well flogged idea and try to create a new whip to beat it with. So if you've been blogging about how much your kids drive you nuts, tu it around and blog about how much you drive your kids nuts (because you do).
  2. Join a social bookmarking site such as Digg or Fark. These types of sites dig up stories of interest and provide almost a limitless supply of things to blog about.
  3. Take part in a forum and blog about the issues raised there. The trick here is to join an active forum with lots of diversity. You are sure to find something to spark your muse among all of the colorful opinions flying around.
  4. Diversify: What are your other interests? If you've been blogging about your children, try expanding to other subjects such as the family dog or your American Idol obsession.
  5. Don't know much or don't have many interests? Choose a topic you would like to lea more about. With so much information available on the inteet it is extremely easy to begin research in an area you are unfamiliar with. Places like Wikipedia offer a wonderful jumping off point for a new leaing adventure.
  6. Visit meme and quiz directories. Places like Blog Things and Blog Quiz have quizzes that offer fun, fortune cookie style insights into your personality. Manic Monday Meme and The Meme Directory offer writing prompts to jumpstart your creativity.
  7. Blog surf. Find out what others are talking about and blog your opinion of the subject.
  8. Ask for inspiration. Let your readers help you by asking for suggestions or questions. This is a great way to interact with your readership.
And if you just can't get your muse to work with you, perhaps it is time for a break. Take a few days off from blogging and refresh yourself. I guarantee you'll be back to whipping out witty repartee in no time.

Happy Blogging

Indigo Black is a freelance writer with an innumerable number of interests that include: writing, blogging, erotica, mythology, philosophy and web design. Currently, she operates two resource sites, one for erotica authors and one for bloggers.

Research shows that millions of Americans made at least one New Year's Resolution this year - but that the real trouble is in sticking to it. According to University of Scranton psychology professor John Norcross, PhD., the three leading resolutions are to lose weight, quit smoking, or exercise regularly. The problem is, less than thirty percent of the people that make a resolution are still working toward their goal thirty days later. Resolution-makers try everything - going cold turkey with cigarettes, buying expensive gym memberships, even rewarding themselves with bribes for making it through a week without ice cream. Unfortunately, these methods fail more often than they succeed. However, thousands of people are finding that using an online diary, or blog, can help them to stick with their resolutions and succeed in reaching their goals. A blog can help with your New Year's resolution in many ways. To start, use your blog to write down exactly what your resolution is, and what the goals are that you hope to achieve. Plan out a timetable for reaching your goals, and put it in writing in your online diary. For instance, if your resolution is to quit smoking, start a joual today, with the first entry stating your goal and how long you expect to have to work to reach it. This clearly defines what your expectations are. More importantly, it records a concrete timeframe for what you are trying to accomplish - making it less likely that you will keep pushing your goal date back week after week. As you work toward your goal, use your blog to keep track of your progress. Each day, make an entry that tells what your successes or failures for that day were. If your resolution is to lose weight, include your weight in your daily diary entry, so you can clearly see what sort of progress you are making. This is particularly useful if you are working towards a long-term goal over several months, since you can check back through your blog to monitor your progress. Changes that seem very small from one day to the next will take on a larger significance when you see them happening over many days and weeks in your blog. If you fall off the resolution wagon one day, be sure to record that as well. A blog can be great for analyzing what went wrong on a particular day, by helping you see what else may have caused the problem. For instance, if your goal is to stop smoking, you may notice in your diary that you are still sneaking cigarettes every Tuesday, but only after the weekly staff meeting with your boss. Identifying the cause of your stress may help you to avoid or eliminate the problem, and get back on track with your resolution. Finally, use your blog as a support mechanism. Most online diary communities allow other members to leave notes to the blog writer - which is a great way to receive support and encouragement from other people who are working toward a similar goal. A few friendly words from somebody else who is trying to exercise three times a week can go a long way towards getting you in the gym tomorrow. As you share your successes or failures with others, you may be surprised by the amount of advice and positive reinforcement you receive from the people who read your blog. By providing a tool for recording your goals, tracking your progress, and gathering personal support, a blog can be invaluable in helping you stick to your New Year's resolution. If you don't already have a blog, check out one of dozens of online diary sites - most of them are free, easy to use, and will provide you with everything you need to keep your own resolution diary.

There is more than one way to start your own blog. In fact, with so many blog solutions out there, you can easily get lost. That's why it's important to pick the right solution for each business. There is nothing more annoying than having to handle countless of problems and decisions when you suddenly find you need to switch blog platforms after you already have a blog up and running.

Of the various blog hosting and services, they all have their own particular benefits and drawbacks. All of them share some basic characteristics that make blogging easy and fun, although some platforms may require more technical knowledge than others. That should not be the barrier though, because it actually is not as difficult as you may imagine.

There are basically three common blog platforms.

1) Hosted weblog platform

This type of blog is the easiest way to start. It's actually similar to creating a free service account online, where you only need to enter your information into the sign up form and click submit. If you know how to create your own web mail account such as Yahoo! Mail, Gmail or Hotmail account, you know more than enough to get started.

This is the only blog solution that allows you to get up and running in a few minutes.

In this type of solution, you don't need to install any type of software or script to get going. Some providers even allow you to use their hosting service for free. All you need to do is select the options you want and start posting to your blog.

The URL to your blog is usually in the following format:

1. user.example.com
2. blogname.example.org
3. example.com/blogname

As you have probably noticed, the biggest benefit of using this type of blog platform is you don't have to take responsibility for anything more than writing and managing your posts. The host providers will organize everything so that no technical skills are required for it to operate properly.

Of course, to fully use one of these blogs, you still have to understand what to do to accomplish certain tasks from the back-end of the blog, or sometimes also called administration area or dashboard.

Still, these types of platform hosts will make sure their servers run smoothly and securely. And if they are proactive and customer centered, they will add features, upgrade new software and support you if you have problems.

Examples: Blogger, TypePad, Blogware, WordPress.com.

2) Standalone weblog software

Standalone weblog software platform requires you to install software or script into your web hosting account. Usually, these software need database and PHP or Perl support (scripting languages) in the web server. Most standard hosts already have support for those features out of the box.

What makes this type of platform so popular among businesses is the flexibility and control you get from owning one. You can host the blog on your own domain with your existing web site; customize the template to inherit the color and navigation (look and feel) from the rest of your website, and so on.

Additionally you can have the blog software modified to suit your needs, and maybe even install some plug-ins to expand functionalities that are not available on standard package. If the blog software includes source code and the term of use lets you modify it, you can even let a programmer fix something if you find a bug - and if you release the bug fix into the community, you have made a meaningful contribution back.

Obviously, this option involves more work than using a hosted solution. And unlike the first solution, if you need to add features then you have to upgrade it your own or hire people who know how to do it.

Like a hosted blog, standalone weblog software usually has a management screen where you can conduct various administrative tasks using relatively easy interfaces.

Examples: WordPress, Movable Type, GreyMatter, PMachine, ExpressionEngine, B2Evolution.

3) Remote hosted weblog platform

Current web and Inteet technologies allow certain blog platforms to expand flexibility, creating a hybrid of some of the features of standalone weblog software and hosted weblog provider. It takes the best of two worlds and bundle them into an elegant solution.

This is generally how it works: you create an account, post and manage your entries through the blog solution website, but the results are transferred to your own chosen domain.

You have to enter your web hosting (or a separate FTP account) login details for it to work properly, i.e. uploading content pages to your hosting server.

Example: Blogger.

Finally, if you are still confused, I would recommend going with either the second or third option. Having your own domain not only means you own it, but it also gives you more control, flexibility and credibility. Those are critical to your business that you don't want to give away.
